Even Squirrels can tell a bad Acorn by looking at it!
This photo was circulated in Dallas at the NAEC elevator convention. While NAEC is a non-partisan group that promotes safe and well managed independant elevator companies and has no connection with this statement, there were many in attendance who were concerned with Acorn having a booth at a trade show where the whole point of meeting is to have better and safer installations.
If you reseasch "Acorn complaints" you will quickely see where there is a lot of buzz about the quality and integrity of the Acorn / Brooks products, both in the US & UK marketplace.

I did search Acorn complaints, I think I only found two. Yours and another. Most of what I find is great results and happy customers.
We need a Stairlift for our mom. I'm calling Acorn Stairlifts first.

Wow, really you searched? Sorry you won't find the real truth till 6 months down the road. I only make these statements from experience and customer cases. I would be glad to offer the phone numbers of the 6 Acorn customers who had a bad experience in Missouri, Arkansas & Oklahoma in the last two years. Please forward you name and email address.
we replaced units after many weeks of attempting to get relpacement parts and a resolution to DIY and handyman and Acorn dealer installed units.
It is obvious that you are an Acorn employee and you have no interest in buying a lift.
If you did you would go down the street in NH and buy the best Stair lift on the market Stannah or a Bruno.
If you are a customer, you should do more research. You could get an Acorn for $1800 or you could get a better product for $2400 from someone local and who will answer the phone when you call back for service.
What you say the Acorn Telemarketer was going to charge you $3400? No! they sell them all day for $1800 or less.
My best advise, find someone nearby who will visit the site and care that you get the right product for your loved one!
In this case it does not pay to go Cheap or with someoen you never meet face to face.
